Our engineering clients, based in Farnborough have an exciting opportunity for a Quality Engineer to join their growing team.
Production Quality Assurance:
• Monitor and improve standards of workmanship across sheet metal fabrication and electronics assembly operations.
• Support and train production staff in quality requirements, visual standards, and correct handling methods.
• Conduct First Article Inspections (FAIs) and maintain appropriate documentation in accordance with customer and internal requirements.
• Identify, analyse and reduce rework through investigation and implementation of effective corrective actions using quality tools (5 Why, 8D, Ishikawa).
• Ensure inspection stages are effective and consistent with drawings, specifications, and customer requirements.
Customer Quality Assurance:
• Investigate customer complaints and non-conformances, implementing timely and robust corrective actions.
• Host customer visits, audits, and inspections, acting as the primary quality representative.
• Raise and manage customer concessions and ensure traceability of records.
• Liaise with customers to clarify and agree product quality standards and acceptance criteria.
• Support RMA analysis and reporting.
Supplier Quality Assurance:
• Support Purchasing in the assessment, approval, and ongoing evaluation of key suppliers. • Conduct supplier audits and support the resolution of supplier non-conformances.
• Analyse supplier performance data and lead improvement initiatives in collaboration with the supply base.
Internal Auditing and Compliance:
• Plan and carry out internal audits against ISO 9001 and internal processes.
• Report audit findings, agree corrective actions, and verify closure of actions to maintain compliance
• Maintain audit records and support third-party audit readiness Business Management System:
• Maintain and develop SOPs, work instructions, forms, and quality records to ensure compliance with ISO 9001.
• Support continuous improvement of the Business Management System (BMS) and ensure changes are communicated effectively
• Assist in document control and revision management in line with process changes and audit findings.
Required skills & experience:
• Minimum 3 years in a Quality Engineering role within a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
• Inspection of sheet metalwork and machined parts against engineering drawings.
• Processing non-conformances and customer complaints.
• Experience hosting customer and supplier audits.
Working hours: 38 hours per week, Mon-Thurs 08:00-16:45, Fri 08:00-13:00
