Example Recruitment are looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to work on a PAYE Basis. This position plays an important role in maintaining financial control, delivering value-driven outcomes, and ensuring commercial compliance across refurbishment programmes. The role is ideal for an individual who thrives in a process-led environment and enjoys working collaboratively with operational and client stakeholders.
Key Duties
* Oversee the commercial management of planned maintenance and refurbishment projects.
* Produce and analyse cost reports, valuations, and financial forecasts.
* Administer subcontractor accounts, including payment applications and account settlements.
* Assess, negotiate, and manage project variations while ensuring accurate valuation and justification.
* Assist with budget preparation, cash flow planning, and cost-value reporting.
* Collaborate closely with delivery teams to ensure commercial objectives align with project performance.
* Monitor contractual obligations, rates, and client-specific requirements to maintain compliance.
* Identify commercial risks and opportunities and support mitigation strategies.
* Contribute to internal reporting, governance procedures, and audit requirements.
Success in this role requires, strong analytical skills, and the ability to build productive relationships across multiple teams.
Essential Experience
* Previous experience in a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor position within construction, refurbishment, maintenance, or housing sectors.
* Background working on planned works programmes and framework agreements.
* Demonstrable ability to manage costs and maintain commercial control.
* Experience handling subcontractor valuations, payments, and final accounts.
* Strong understanding of contract administration and commercial management practices.
* Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
* Proficient in Microsoft Excel and commercial management software.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
* HNC, HND, Degree, or equivalent qualification in a construction, surveying, or commercial discipline.
* Experience working on projects delivered through housing association or local authority frameworks.
