Senior Quantity Surveyor – Infrastructure & Highways

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to take a leading commercial role on a major UK infrastructure project — a significant highways scheme delivering new carriageway construction, junction improvements, earthworks, drainage, and structural elements.

This is a high-profile position offering real ownership and influence across commercial performance, cost control, and contract management, either on a flagship project or across a portfolio of infrastructure schemes.

You’ll be joining a well-established, forward-thinking infrastructure business with a strong pipeline of long-term secured work across highways, water, utilities, and wider civil engineering frameworks. The environment is collaborative, delivery-focused, and built around developing high-performing teams and long-term careers.

What You’ll Be Doing

You will take full commercial responsibility for key elements of project delivery, including:

* Ensuring a safe working environment and supporting strong health & safety performance

* Leading subcontract procurement, negotiation, and package management

* Administering contracts and managing commercial compliance throughout delivery

* Managing change control processes, including Compensation Events and variations

* Producing, submitting, and agreeing monthly applications and valuations

* Developing detailed cost plans, forecasts, and Cost Value Reconciliations (CVR)

* Monitoring subcontractor performance and managing commercial risk exposure

* Issuing contractual notices to clients and supply chain partners as required

* Liaising closely with operational and engineering teams to maintain accurate site records

* Supporting progress, risk, and commercial review meetings with key stakeholders

What We’re Looking For

* Strong experience in civil engineering or infrastructure projects (highways, water, utilities, or similar)

* Excellent working knowledge of standard forms of contract (NEC experience highly desirable)

* Strong commercial awareness with proven negotiation and cost control capability

* Confident communicator with strong stakeholder management skills

* Experience managing subcontract packages and change control processes

* Proficient in Microsoft Excel and commercial systems (e.g. CEMAR, Oracle or similar)

* Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or related discipline (or equivalent experience)

* Working towards or holding MCIOB / MRICS (desirable)

* Valid CSCS card

Why Apply?

This is a chance to be part of a business delivering some of the UK’s most important infrastructure programmes, with a strong order book and long-term visibility of work.

You will benefit from:

* A secure pipeline of major infrastructure projects

* Opportunities to work across highways, utilities, and civil engineering schemes

* Clear progression pathways and structured development support

* Exposure to large-scale, complex infrastructure delivery environments

* Flexible and agile working arrangements where appropriate

Benefits

* Competitive salary and full benefits package, Generous holiday allowance (with option to buy additional days)

* Pension scheme, Private medical options

* Monthly subsistence allowance (where applicable)

* Long-term career development and leadership pathway
