Hackney Council is seeking an experienced Senior Social Worker to join their Family Help Team. This is an exciting opportunity to work within an innovative service that brings together early intervention, safeguarding, and family support to deliver effective, relationship-based practice for children and families.
You will work with families across the continuum of need, providing intensive support, managing risk, and helping to create sustainable change that improves outcomes for children and young people.
In this role, you will:
Manage a complex caseload of children and families requiring support and intervention
Undertake Child and Family Assessments and statutory assessments where required
Manage Child in Need and Child Protection plans
Complete Section 17 and Section 47 enquiries and investigations
Work directly with children and families to build strengths and reduce risk
Develop and implement outcome-focused plans that promote positive change
Lead and participate in multi-agency meetings and safeguarding processes
Undertake pre-proceedings and court work where required
Support and mentor less experienced Social Workers within the team
Maintain high-quality assessments, reports, and case recordings
What You’ll Need:
Social Work England Registration
Social Work Qualification
At least 3 years’ post-qualified experience in children’s social care
Strong experience within Family Help, Safeguarding, CIN, CP, or Assessment services
Experience managing complex safeguarding cases
Court work and pre-proceedings experience
Excellent assessment, analytical, and communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively within a multi-agency environment
Experience supporting and developing colleagues within a team setting
