Redbridge Council is seeking experienced Social Workers and Senior Social Workers to join their innovative Family Help Service. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a forward-thinking team that brings together Early Help, Community Social Work, and Child Protection Assessment to provide seamless support for children and families.
The Family Help model ensures children receive the right support at the right time, with no step-ups or step-downs between services. Practitioners work across the continuum of need, building strong relationships with families and delivering creative, strengths-based interventions that improve outcomes and keep children safe.
What makes Family Help different?
Integrated support from Early Help through to statutory intervention
Manageable caseloads that allow for meaningful direct work
Relationship-based practice at the heart of service delivery
Creative and bespoke interventions tailored to family needs
Strong multi-agency working and community partnerships
Excellent opportunities for learning, development, and progression
In this role, you will:
Work intensively with children and families to build trust and create positive change
Undertake assessments and develop plans for Child in Need, Child Protection, and Looked After Children cases
Manage a caseload across both Early Help and statutory services
Complete Section 17 and Section 47 assessments where required
Work collaboratively with Early Help practitioners, Family Support Workers, and partner agencies
Develop and implement creative interventions that reduce risk and promote resilience
Undertake court work, including pre-proceedings and post-proceedings processes
Participate in the team duty rota (1 week in every 8)
Contribute to innovative safeguarding strategies and best practice development
Maintain accurate and timely case recordings and reports
What You’ll Need:
Social Work England Registration
Social Work Qualification
Minimum 1 year's post-qualified experience (more required for Senior Social Worker positions)
Experience working within Children's Services
Strong understanding of safeguarding, Child in Need, Child Protection, and Looked After Children processes
Court work, pre-proceedings, or legal planning experience
Ability to manage complex cases and work effectively under pressure
Strong assessment, analytical, and communication skills
Commitment to relationship-based and strengths-focused practice
