Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) - Lewisham - Primary School

Location: Lewisham, South East London
Start Date: September 2026
Pay Rate: £120 per day PAYE (equivalent to approximately £140 per day via an Umbrella company)

Tradewind Recruitment is delighted to be recruiting for a dedicated and adaptable Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary school in the London Borough of Lewisham from September 2026.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HLTA who enjoys variety in their role and is confident supporting pupils across the primary age range. The school benefits from excellent transport links and is conveniently located within a five-minute walk of a local train station, making it easily accessible from across South East London and beyond.

The Role

As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting teaching and learning throughout the school. Responsibilities will include:

Delivering whole-class lessons in the absence of the class teacher.
Supporting pupils across all primary year groups.
Leading targeted intervention groups to raise attainment.
Providing 1:1 support for individual pupils where required.
Working closely with teachers and senior leaders to ensure pupils achieve their full potential.
Demonstrating flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of the school.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful applicant will:

Hold HLTA status or have significant experience working at HLTA level within a primary school setting.
Be confident leading whole-class teaching sessions.
Have experience supporting pupils across a range of ages and abilities.
Be proactive, organised, and able to work independently.
Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Have a genuine passion for supporting children's learning and development.
