Location: Sidcup
Position: Full-Time, Term Time Only
Working Hours: 9:00am – 3:15pm
Pay Rate: £110 – £130 per day

Our agency is delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a successful and well-established SEND school in the London Borough of Bexley. We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) with an intervention focus to join their supportive and highly skilled team.

This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference to the lives of children and young people with a range of special educational needs. Experience of working with pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) is desirable; however, applications are also welcomed from candidates who are passionate about SEND and keen to develop their skills and expertise within a specialist setting.

About the Role

As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will complement the work of teachers and other professionals by supporting pupils' educational development through your specialist knowledge, skills and experience. You will play a key role in delivering targeted interventions, promoting pupil progress, and ensuring that learners receive the maximum benefit from their education.

Key Responsibilities

Support the educational, social and emotional development of pupils in line with their Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
Assess pupil needs and use specialist knowledge to support learning and achievement across all areas of development.
Monitor, record and evaluate pupil progress, adapting activities and interventions to meet individual needs.
Plan and deliver engaging lessons, intervention programmes and learning activities that motivate and inspire pupils.
Prepare learning resources and effectively manage the learning environment.
Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, health professionals and other school staff to ensure a joined-up approach to pupil support.
Plan and deliver learning objectives where appropriate and provide regular feedback to class teachers on pupil progress.
Lead on a designated area of specialism (e.g. SEMH, Communication, Sensory Needs), including supporting and training other staff members.
Deliver specialist interventions, triage referrals, monitor outcomes and support the transition of interventions back into classroom practice.
Provide class cover when required, ensuring continuity of learning and high standards of teaching and support.
Undertake First Aid responsibilities as part of the role.What We're Looking For

HLTA qualification or equivalent experience.
Experience supporting children or young people within an educational setting.
Knowledge of SEND, particularly ASD, SLD and PMLD, is desirable.
Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
Ability to plan, deliver and evaluate learning activities and interventions.
Confidence working independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Commitment to safeguarding, inclusion and achieving the best outcomes for all pupils.
