Barnet | Locum | £38.50 per hour | 36 Hours per Week | Hybrid Working
Barnet Council is seeking an experienced Senior Social Worker to join their Assessment & Intervention Team. This is a frontline role focused on undertaking assessments, managing safeguarding concerns, and delivering timely interventions to improve outcomes for children and families.
You will work with children and families from the point of referral, undertaking statutory assessments and progressing plans to ensure children receive the right support and protection when needed.
Working Pattern:
36 hours per week
Hybrid working arrangement
In this role, you will:
Undertake Child and Family Assessments
Complete Section 17 and Section 47 enquiries
Manage Child in Need and Child Protection cases
Assess risk and develop outcome-focused care plans
Undertake direct work with children and families
Lead and participate in strategy meetings, core groups, and multi-agency discussions
Progress cases through pre-proceedings and court processes where required
Support and mentor less experienced Social Workers within the team
Prepare high-quality assessments, reports, and court documentation
Maintain accurate and timely case recordings
What You’ll Need:
Social Work England Registration
Social Work Qualification
At least 3 years’ post-qualified experience in children’s social care
Strong experience within Assessment, Intervention, Duty, or Referral & Assessment services
Child in Need and Child Protection experience
Court work and pre-proceedings experience
Ability to manage complex safeguarding cases confidently
Strong assessment, analytical, and communication skills
