Based in Consett, our client is a well-established and highly regarded engineering business specialising in the repair, refurbishment, and manufacture of rotating equipment and precision components. Supporting a wide range of industrial sectors, they are known for delivering high-quality, technically robust solutions in demanding environments.

Quality is central to everything they do. Operating in line with recognised industry standards, the business places a strong emphasis on inspection, compliance, and continuous improvement. You’ll be working within a structured quality environment, supporting processes such as dimensional inspection, documentation control, non-conformance reporting, and ensuring adherence to ISO standards and customer specifications.

The role also involves liaison with workshop and fitting teams, ensuring workmanship meets required tolerances and quality expectations throughout assembly and repair processes.

THE ROLE

• Carry out Quality Assurance and Quality Control inspections on both Goods Inwards and finished components to ensure all work meets required standards
• Ensure all quality documentation is completed accurately and in line with company quality systems and ISO 9001:2015 requirements
• Identify, record, and report non-conforming products in accordance with internal procedures
• Support the investigation and resolution of non-conformances in collaboration with wider production and engineering teams
• Verify that all QA/QC requirements are met in accordance with customer purchase orders and specifications
• Ensure inspection activities are prioritised effectively to support production schedules and delivery deadlines

THE PERSON

• Previous experience working within an ISO 9001:2015 quality management environment
• Engineering or manufacturing background essential; experience within pumps or rotating equipment would be highly advantageous
• Strong understanding of engineering tolerances (typically to 0.0005” / 0.01mm)
• Proficient in the use of precision measuring equipment including micrometers, verniers, and other hand measuring tools in both imperial and metric systems
• Ability to confidently read and interpret engineering drawings
• Highly self-motivated with a proactive approach to workload
• Strong organisational skills with excellent time management and attention to detail
• Methodical and structured approach to work, with a strong focus on accuracy and consistency
