Mechanical Engineer Location: Southampton
Salary: £42,000 per annum
Permanent | Shift-Based Role
A well-established facilities services provider is recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join a site-based engineering team in Southampton. This is a permanent opportunity offering stability and a varied mechanical maintenance role.
The Role
You will be responsible for carrying out planned preventative maintenance and reactive maintenance across a range of mechanical building services, ensuring all works are completed safely and to a high standard.
Key responsibilities include:
Planned and reactive maintenance of mechanical plant and systems
Fault finding and repair of building services equipment
Completion of maintenance documentation and reports
Working from drawings, schedules, and technical information
Liaison with subcontractors where required
Identification and ordering of spare parts
Supporting general engineering and maintenance dutiesRequirements
Proven experience in mechanical maintenance or building services
Working knowledge of HVAC and mechanical systems
Basic electrical and plumbing skills
Strong health & safety awareness
Self-motivated, reliable, and organised
Good communication skillsShift Pattern
Working a rotating shift pattern
Shift 1: 08:00 – 16:30 (30-minute lunch)
Shift 2: 13:30 – 22:00 (30-minute lunch)
Current rotation: Shift 1, Shift 1, Shift 2
