Responsibilities:
The Health Information Coordinator is primarily responsible for accurate and timely transmission of medical records upon request, and uploading of medical records in compliance with HIPAA standards and PrairieCare policies
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Processes requests for release of medical records for coordination of care, legal, and quality measures
Interprets and understands a Release of Information (ROI) to authorize the disclosure of protected health information
Works within an online ticket system to effectively respond to requests for disclosure of information and uploading of medical records
Serves as a source for medical and clinical teams about the location of scanned documents within a patient's electronic medical record
Maintains the strictest confidentiality; adheres to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations.
Qualifications:
High school graduate or GED is required. Two-year degree in Healthcare Administration or related field is preferred
One year of previous data entry, health information, or reception experience in a healthcare environment
Ability to multi-task and accept requests from clinical staff, patients, and external entities
Ability to work both independently and on a team, while prioritizing requests for information
Ability to use electronic fax, email, and online messaging between team members and staff
Ability to maintain confidentiality is essential
Strong customer service skills; ability to establish and maintain effective communication between the Health Information team and internal or external providers
Strong computer and Microsoft Office skills using Word, Outlook, and Microsoft Teams
Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize workflow and meet deadlines
Skill in identifying problems, problem solving, and resolution
