Overview:

 POSITION OVERVIEW 

The Corporate Information Technology Department at Fidelity National Financial (FNF) is currently seeking a Director of Development to manage the ongoing development and modernization of mission critical applications. The applications have integrations with various production and reporting systems. Ideal candidates should have experience working in an Agile team environment with excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills and a broad understanding of the Microsoft technology stack. Requires in-depth experience and ability to partner with Product Owners to ensure a balance of deliverables for both new functionality and reducing tech debt.

LOCATION

This is a hybrid position out of our Jacksonville, FL (HQ) office. The company is unable to sponsor visas for this position.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Plans, guides and directs all architecture, development, quality assurance (QA), application security and release activities on our products currently in use. 

Serves as a process leader and mentor for all team members. 

Works closely with Product teams, ensuring that both functional and non-functional requirements are correctly prioritized and delivered on time and budget. 

Creates opportunities for teams to reduce technical debt, increase code coverage and quality throughout the software lifecycle. 

Hires, nurtures, and retains strong technical talent across all teams. 

Ensures that all engineering efforts follow organizational policies, procedures and industry best practices.

Participates in the development cycle design, scoping, planning, developing, implementation, testing, and incident support.

Supports continuous improvement by investigating alternatives and technologies and presenting these for architectural review.

Resolves high impact problems and ensures application performance, quality and responsiveness.

Improves team development related processes that accelerate delivery, drive innovation, lower costs, and improve quality.

Manages local, remote and offshore employees.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

A Bachelor of Science or Engineering in Computer Science or Engineering is required or the equivalent combination of education, training and work experience.

Requires 6 – 10+ years of relevant experience in application development.

Resource management experience and expert leadership skills.

Solid understanding and experience with the current Microsoft technology stack.

Good understanding of architecture, database design, manipulation and query design.

Agile/Scrum or DevOps experience.

Experience in managing and implementing successful projects and ability to adjust priorities quickly as circumstances dictate.

Exposure to test driven development, unit testing, and test automation.

Experience with Cloud Technologies (MS Azure preferred).

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

Prior experience in banking and financial services.

Master’s degree in a technology domain.

Experience with version control systems and branching strategies (Git experience a plus).

Experience working with audit and compliance groups (SOC2 controls a plus).

Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.

Quick learner, self-starter with strong troubleshooting and project management skills.
