Overview:

The Maryland Bariatric Center at Mercy offers patients life-changing surgery to improve their weight management and restore them to a more active, healthier lifestyle. Led by Baltimore bariatric surgeon Dr. Kuldeep Singh, the Center includes a multidisciplinary approach to help patients achieve long-term results and improved health.

Responsibilities:

This position oversees operational daily activities within the practice. The Practice Manager is responsible for office procedures, facilities management, equipment maintenance, revenue capture, referral management and supervision of staff.  Day to day responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Oversees and maintains the day-to-day operations of busy medical practice in a manner consistent with practice goals, policies and procedures

Serves as liaison between staff, providers, patients, leadership, and others, accurately communicates information between all parties

Manages physician schedule through staff training, weekly monitoring of upcoming week’s schedule, maintains physician templates with approval, and conducts training sessions with staff to ensure accurate patient scheduling

Oversees and supports staff in all aspects of procedural and surgical scheduling

Oversees and supports staff that use computer system for scheduling, patient registration, charge and payment entry inquiries, inter-departmental communication lab requisitions, patient receipts, and other information as needed.

Oversees and supports staff who accurately schedule appointments for physician according to practice requirements and needs and confirms appointments.

Oversees and supports staff that collects patient co-payment, unpaid balances and other self-pay amounts, properly maintain daily patient sign-in logs, charge and payment logs and accurately and efficiently comply with practice protocols to ensure the capture of all billable revenue on a daily basis.

Maintains a current working knowledge of HMOs, managed care plans, and other third party payer regulations in the management of patients of the practice.

Leadership:

Responsible for tracking referrals into the program and reporting to leadership

Responsible for hiring, onboarding and training new employees

Responsible for employee performance evaluations

Responsible for payroll functions of the practice  

Counsels and/or administers disciplinary action to employees as necessary in keeping with Mercy policies.

Promotes a positive working environment which encourages a productive staff which participates in problem solving and process improvement, development of new procedures, enhances existing skills and development of new processes, enhances existing skills and develops new skills and maintain a high level of communication

Qualifications:

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in business, healthcare, or related field required

Minimum of 2 years’ experience in medical office setting.

Practice Management in a surgical based specialty preferred

Min:

USD $31.11/Hr.

Max:

USD $56.00/Hr.
