Overview:
Under the direction of the Wardrobe Supervisor, the Lead Seamstress performs all Seamstress duties and serves as team leader ensuring uniform alterations and fittings are completed to the highest of standards.
Responsibilities:
Provides leadership and instruction to Seamstress to ensure alterations and fittings are completed properly and in a timely manner.
Schedules the daily work assignments, assigns tasks, and manages project timeline.
Measures and fits Team Members for uniforms upon hire and when re-fitting is needed.
Hems pants and other items using different hemming techniques (e.g., blind hem, straight stitch, etc.).
Uses sewing, stitching, and hemming machines, steam presses, and irons to alter and finalize clothing.
Ensures all equipment is in good working condition.
Ensures shop supplies are replenished and available.
Notifies Wardrobe Manager in machine malfunctions.
Provides training to new and current Team Members.
Builds a work environment that promotes teamwork, partnership, recognition, mutual respect, collaboration, performance feedback/management, and Team Member satisfaction while role modeling the company values, behaviors, and culture of One.Team.Chumash.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED Certificate.
Two years of experience as a seamstress or tailor.
One year experience in alterations and fittings.
One year of prior experience in a supervisory or lead capacity.
Must be able to use sewing, stitching, and hemming machinery, presses, and other related machinery.
Basic computer proficiency utilizing Microsoft applications, e-mail, and internet.
Willingness to work flexible schedules in a 24/7 work environment, including holidays, nights, and weekends.
Must participate and complete ongoing departmental required training.
Must apply for, receive, and maintain a Gaming License from the Tribal Gaming Agency.
Native American hiring preference applies.
