Responsibilities:
What You’ll Do
Demonstrate a thorough understanding of Accounting principles, processes, and procedures in order to ensure accuracy, compliance and efficiency
Prepare complex accounting estimates based on Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and internal policies. Estimates include, but are not limited to:
First mortgage pipeline hedging market valuation
Allowance for Loan Loss
Other Real Estate Owned
Mortgage Servicing Right valuation
Complete member incoming and outgoing wire requests, working closely with Membership Services and Mortgages to resolve issues
Support month end close activities including preparation of journal entries, completing account reconciliation on all balance sheet accounts, and preparing and analyzing reports
Proficient with GAAP requirements and ensure consistency of practices to this guidance
Prepare the annual consolidated financial statements
Work with accounting operations on the general ledger structure to support financial reporting across all entities
Work with manager and team members to implement changes required for GAAP and regulatory reporting requirements
Assist with data collection and analysis to support the annual budgeting process
Perform preparatory work prior to audits and regulatory examinations and remain an active resource during audit/examination
Participates and takes an active role in various complex projects and business initiatives within the organization
Work collaboratively with other team members to achieve departmental and corporate goals
Qualifications:
These skills and experiences are essential to your success
Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or business required
4-5 years of experience in Accounting required
Experience in the financial institution industry, accounting, or business preferred
Strong working knowledge of GAAP
Effectively applies technical knowledge to solve a range of problems, and is sought out as an expert to provide advice or solutions in technical areas
Ability to communicate effectively with team members and other departments
High level of accuracy and pursues quality in accomplishing tasks
Ability to take initiative and complete high volumes of work without sacrificing accuracy
