Summary

Responsible for timely and accurate preparation of the monthly financial statements, including gaming statistic as noted below.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Performs higher level tasks than the Accounting Specialist(s).

Trains newly hired employees in GL.

Prepares daily and monthly journal entries, as assigned.

Responsible for daily reports, as assigned.

Reconciles general ledger accounts monthly, as assigned.

Cross-trains with other General Ledger staff to learn other duties in order to ensure coverage when other staff is out of the office.

Assists in preparation of explanations for monthly P&L meetings, including comparison of actual versus budget and prior year amounts.

Responsible for monthly and quarterly regulatory compliance filings and payment of fees.

Prepares monthly/quarterly sales and use tax returns, and other quarterly reporting.

Responsible for annual gaming tax return filings and other annual reporting.

Assists other department personnel with questions and concerns.

Other duties as needed.

Education and/or Experience

Three years related experience and/or training in a large, complex environment; commensurate college or university program degree; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Strong communication and interpersonal skills both oral and written. Ability to interpret quotes, contracts and invoicing documents.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions and percentages.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have the ability to learn new systems quickly and have knowledge of Excel and Word.
