Position Summary

This role offers the opportunity to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplined environment on a variety of project types and scales. Working on innovative projects and collaborating with cross functional teams to drive results from concept to completion for the design of building mechanical systems.  This position has excellent growth potential for candidates who will be working with a proven team of engineering professionals and would be based out of our Cherry Hill, NJ or Doylestown, PA regional offices.

Responsibilities:

Design and develop HVAC systems, for small to large and simple to complex projects in various market sectors including Science & Technology and Healthcare, ensuring compliance with all relevant codes and regulations.

Collaborate with architects, contractors (when appropriate), and other engineers to integrate mechanical systems into overall building design. Communicating with other disciplines to ensure project documents are properly coordinated.

Perform calculations, simulations, and analyses to optimize system performance and energy efficiency.

Conduct site visits and inspections to assess existing systems, troubleshoot issues, and provide recommendations for improvements.

Use computer aided design technologies to develop sketches, drawings, and construction documents, including written specifications.

Participate in project meetings, offering expertise and guidance to ensure projects meet quality standards and deadlines.

Respond to client questions and comments, review contractor submittals, and provide clarifications and field observations during construction.

Review drawings and documents to ensure compliance with company design and production standards.

Qualifications:

Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or ability to obtain is highly preferred.

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field from an accredited program.

Proven building design experience (5+ years minimum; 8-10 years preferred) with consulting architectural/engineering firm or design/build contractor in mechanical engineering with a focus on healthcare facilities and science and tech.

In-depth knowledge of HVAC systems (air side, chilled water, condenser water, hot water, steam, etc.). Knowledge of plumbing, fire protection and/or medical gas systems design and installation is a plus.

Familiarity with relevant codes and standards such as ASHRAE, FGI Guidelines, GMP, etc. Familiarity with other standards such as NFPA and ASPE is a plus.

Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit) and engineering analysis tools (Trane Trace 3D, etc.).

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.

Experience using Microsoft Office, Excel, Outlook, and similar software.

Thorough understanding of the architectural and engineering industry, including the applicable building codes, Federal, State, and local laws and regulations that pertain to the industry.

Some travel is required to meet project and training requirements.
