Overview
Monarch Power Supply is hiring a qualified Diesel Technician at our Jersey village location. The ideal candidate will have experience working on CAT, Cummins, Perkins engines or similar diesel engines with preferred manufacturer certifications. This position is expected to drive to our shop in Jersey Village daily.
This position involves performing service work both in the shop and on field calls, requiring skilled technical repairs on various equipment types powered by industrial diesel engines. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of internal combustion engines, common rail fuel systems, diesel engine aftertreatment systems, as well as electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. The ability to work independently with minimal supervision is essential.
Wages
Starting wage will depend on experience and education. $36.69 - $45.88
Responsibilities
Essential duties and responsibilities of a Monarch Diesel Technician II include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Troubleshoot, diagnose malfunctions and failures on diesel engines
Repair equipment, including hydraulic systems, fueling systems, electrical systems, pneumatic systems, engine rebuilds, engine fuel systems, engine maintenance and adjustments, and other customer requests
Complete assigned jobs and tasks to meet quoted times
Accurately complete job notes and access factory database(s) to assist in diagnostic and repairs
Strong computer skills, with the ability to navigate multiple systems for diagnostic and troubleshooting.
Remove and install parts, disassemble, and assemble components, and test and adjust
Assemble various engines with minimal supervision
Communicate effectively with customers on diagnostics and engine repairs
Effective communication skills via email and Microsoft Teams
Work safely and follow all safety policies and procedures
Train and mentor inexperienced Service Technicians (i.e., Apprentice and Level I)
Travel up to 10% for training and overnight field work.
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Must have 3+ years of experience in diesel technology.
Must obtain the level of “Certified” within 6 months of employment.
Ability to consistently run high efficiency on billable labor hours
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals and the ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentages
Must be competent with a PC and Windows based programs
Strong ability to read and understand wiring diagrams, troubleshooting guides, and disassembly/assembly manuals.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and write routine reports and correspondence
Must supply own mechanic tools and have general knowledge of basic hand tools, air tools, & precision measuring tools
Must be able to install, program, troubleshoot and repair engine control systems
Must have in-depth knowledge of diesel engines, common rail fuel systems, and aftertreatment systems
Must be competent with full diagnostics, tear down and reassembly, as well as removal and installation of engines in OEM machinery
Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record
Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of personalities and has excellent customer service skills
Ability to maintain composure under stressful working conditions
Must be able to obtain a medical card to meet DOT regulations (hauling 10,001 pounds combination truck/trailer)
Must be able and willing to travel as support for field service projects as needed
Equipment:
You will work on a variety of manufactured diesel powered equipment including but not limited:
Generators, welders, air compressors, Perkins diesel engines, cement mixers and wood chippers.
Physical Demands:
Ability to sit, stand and walk for extended periods of time.
Ability to bend, balance, stoop, and kneel.
Ability to use repetitive motion with hand tools as well as phone, computer, keyboard, and mouse.
Ability to see, hear, and talk with necessary individuals who this role will partner with.
Ability to travel by car or plane for extended periods of time.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment:
Ability to work in various weather conditions, including wet, cold, excessive heat, and humidity
Ability to work in a shop environment which can be noisy due to equipment or tools running.
Ability to work safely around contaminants, including engine exhaust, oil, coolant, and various
solvent-based cleaners
Works around potential hazards in a safe manner and identify areas of concern.
Work in cramped work spaces that require getting into awkward positions.
Consistently wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), such as safety glasses and earplugs.
