Resumen:

The Longshoreman (Laborer) is responsible for securing, loading and unloading the cargo from the vessel and/or train (container, bulk, breakbulk, sort shipping containers, oil barrels, and other cargo) in a responsible, safe and efficient manner. May preform other duties as necessary.

Calificaciones:

Candidate Requirements:

Two-year (1) year of experience in customer service.

Excellent written & communication in English (Spanish is a plus)

High school diploma or equivalent

Must have Driver’s License

Must have a TWIC (Transportation Worker identification Credential)

Dependable mode of transportation to and from work

The ability and willingness to work in a team environment

Must be willing to travel, as needed.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Work is 100% outdoors

Candidate will be exposed to weather conditions like heat, rain & cold on daily basis. And in some occasions will work in closed spaces (warehouse, vessel hatch, etc)

Capable of walking, bending, stooping, climbing ladders up to 100ft high and have fast physical reactions (jump, move)

Ability to work in a noisy environment

Position Overview:

The Longshoreman III (HOLD) is responsible for securing, loading and unloading the cargo from the vessel and/or train (container, bulk, breakbulk, sort , oil barrels, and other cargo) in a responsible, safe and efficient manner. May preform other duties as necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

Reports to Gang Foreman.

Prior Longshoreman experience preferred.

Works outside on terminal.

Communicates verbally or uses hand signals.

May instruct Yard Hustler Drivers on specific location to line up Yard Hustler in order for the crane to be able to load or offload the container.

May be required to communicate via hand held radio.

May be required to handle tools and/or lashing materials .

May engage and disengage automatic locks (13 lbs.) which are set in between the containers to hold in place during transport and place in gearbox.

May be required to place or remove dunnage including but not limited to under blades, buckets, or other attachments that would rest on transport surface.

Must remain clear of moving tracks and attached equipment.

May use push broom to sweep discarded materials to designated area.

May place ISO fittings.

May be required to hook and unhook lifting gear.
