Job Title: EHS Specialist

Location: Vernon Hills area

Job Type and Duration: Direct Hire

Hours: Monday - Friday (8am - 5pm)

Develop and administer facility Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs in accordance with regulatory requirements and corporate policies, standards, procedures, and objectives. Foster facility awareness, involvement, and accountability of EHS issues to assure full integration of EHS initiatives with business activities. Direct facility activities to minimize company liability and promote sustainability. This role will support a location of 150-200 employees: with moderate environmental and safety complexity.

Principal Accountabilities:

* Facilitate the site EHS Safety Committee.

* Lead the development, and implementation of Machine Guarding engineering improvement projects.

* Develop programs and solutions for the locations EHS Compliance Audit findings.

* Assists the Site EHS Manager, supervisors, and employees with the implementation of creative approaches to improve safety, and liability, and implement EHS initiatives.

* Support the facility in promoting and implementing a high-accountability EHS culture.

* Conduct and/or coordinate EHS inspections and assessments to assure compliance with regulatory requirements, EHS initiatives, and Key Performance Measures (KPM) expectations, identify opportunities for improvement, and provide recommendations based on findings.

* Support facility incident investigation process to ensure incidents are reported in a timely manner, root causes are identified, and corrective actions are tracked through closure.

* Provide progress reports, as appropriate, to facility management and facility employees relative to EHS goals, metrics, and other performance indicators

* Coordinates resources to ensure EHS aspects and requirements, including legal requirements as contained in codes, laws, permits, licenses, orders, etc., affecting the facility are fully understood and properly managed. These include - Air Permits, Storm Water Plans, Hazardous Waste Storage, and DOT.

* Procure and maintain records, data, or information necessary to: prepare internally or externally required reports; respond to agency requests; and verify compliance with EHS requirements. Prepare and submit timely reports and responses to informational requests.

* Provide recommendations and ensure proper follow-up and resolution of all concerns identified through assessments, inspections, monitoring activities, or other means.

* Provide training and information necessary to ensure responsible personnel are aware of corporate and governmental EHS regulations and requirements. Hazard Recognition, Working at Heights, Confined Space, LOTO, JSA, and Risk Assessments.

* Support the development, maintenance, implementation, and annual review of EHS policies, procedures, and responsibilities, and develop activities that will stimulate and maintain employee interest as well as improve EHS performance metrics.

* Plan, develop, deliver, and coordinate effective EHS training for all facility employees, temporary workers, contractors, and visitors to promote a strong EHS culture.

Qualifications/Requirements

Knowledge & Experience:

* Relevant manufacturing experience with Project Management Leadership

* 2+ years experience or involvement in EHS

* Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), and Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) is a plus

* Computer literacy; Proficiency in Microsoft Project, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, etc. Familiarity with SharePoint is a plus.

* Excellent verbal and written communications skills

* Discretion and confidentiality

Education & Certifications:

* A Bachelors degree in EHS, OSH, Engineering, or a Related Field
