Overview ...:
The Assembly Manager is responsible for AGV assembly operations at the Chalfont, PA site encompassing one JBT facility with a team of approximately 25 direct and indirect associates; and growing; that deliver AGV’s to a variety of industries.
The Assembly Manager drives performance through the development of short and long-term operating goals and standards for safety, continuous improvement, quality, cost reduction, and production efficiency. They are also responsible for financial performance of the department and providing feedback to management on profitability.
The Opportunity ...:
Daily management of throughput, progress, issues and resolutions while also focusing on mid/long term strategic initiatives
Create a culture of continuous improvement and employee engagement at AGV Chalfont
Identify and implement process improvements in safety, 5S, lean manufacturing, quality, planning and achieve key performance measurements related to personnel safety, quality, service, and cost.
Implement/Improve daily management for AGV output and quality, as well as planning.
Track KPI’s to achieves performance standards in all operational and related metrics. Responsible for cost reduction and performance improvement
Collaborate with leadership to develop and achieve company goals while supplying expertise and guidance on effective and efficient improvements in assembly and manufacturing processes
Drive the development of AGV Assembly and supporting processes, and establishment and achievement of cost, quality, and delivery targets
Oversee preparation of schedules and planning, coordinate AGV Assembly and supporting activities to ensure on time delivery
Develop and motivate a highly skilled team. Drive performance management and talent development. Build strong employee relations with open communication, respect, consistent application of policies, continuous improvement, and empowerment of team members. Develop and support responsible for all aspects of production, assembly, inventory management, shipping, and receiving
Model and inspire others to live ONE JBT leadership values of Customer First, Integrity, Accountability, Relentless Continuous Improvement, and Teamwork
Develop specific short-term and long-term plans and investments to improve productivity and capacity, prepare funding requests with budgets and justifications as needed
Build relationships and partner with AGV teams across the business, including Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Sales and other customer-facing teams to understand customer feedback and drive improvement in delivery time, quality, cost, service, and responsiveness
Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and policies
Revises and updates resource and production schedules to meet business needs.
Collaborate with engineering to establish estimates for assembly hours for all projects and manage via weekly variance report and meeting(s).
Responsible for minimizing and reducing Vehicle Quality Defects per Vehicle.
Lead Root Cause analysis on production related items via A3 process and develop corrective actions.
Analyze production, quality control, maintenance, and operational reports to determine causes of nonconformity with product specifications, and operation or production problems.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations Management or similar preferred.
Daily and visual management experience (white boards, pacing boards, SQDC, …) required
Minimum 10 years of experience in a custom-engineered systems or prototyping environment of which 5 years is managing exempt and non-exempt staff.
Experience developing and implementing Lean practices and KPI actions plans for operational improvement priorities preferred.
Experience leading planning management preferred.
Experience in developing and implementing KPI actions plans for operational improvement priorities preferred.
Demonstrated knowledge and application history of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement preferred.
Collaborative management style which builds strong teamwork culture.
Clear understanding of financial principles for operations, including firm understanding of cost, inventory, and P&L preferred.
Strong background in industry standard safety processes
Demonstrated ability to lead change and gain followership
Ability to communicate verbally and in written form effectively with a diverse team
ERP system experience required, Syteline 9 highly desirable
Experience with Electro-Mechanical Machinery, including hydraulics, motors, and DC circuits preferred
Supervisory Responsibility:
Directly supervise approximately 25 assembly technicians. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing concerns and resolving issues.
