Overview:

The HR Generalist is a key contributor to the North America Human Resources Business Partner organization. The HR Generalist is the first point of contact for HR-related inquiries for the Rug Doctor hourly Associate population. This position will support other Associate populations as assigned and may cover for business lines outside of their day to day scope on an as needed basis.

This position has a knack for relationship building and won’t shy away from preserving through challenges. Demonstrating a high level of learning agility with an enthusiasm for problem solving are key drivers of success in this role.

The HR Generalist will provide operational support for the HRBP – Manager of Rug Doctor. Often juggling multiple priorities at once, the HR Generalist will bring passion for high associate engagement in consistent and sustainable ways. They will own the quality of the HR relationship with Associates and leadership, from onboarding to their career at BISSELL through consistent guidance on associate relations concerns, training, performance management, policy implementation and compliance. It is expected that this role will continuously look for new ways to elevate, automate, and streamline our HR processes, making the experience with HR simpler and more impactful. 

Responsibilities:

Serve as first point of contact in HR for Rug Doctor hourly Associates, support and guidance HR-related questions as needed

Manage the hourly associate relations process and provide support and guidance to hourly leadership on associate relations matters, including administration of policies and procedures.

Lead the day one hourly orientation process and responsible for educating hourly leadership on onboarding post-day one.

Attend ASR leadership huddles on a regular basis to deliver critical HR information as needed and to create an intentional connection to hourly population.

Manage the weekly attendance reporting for hourly Associates, provide disciplinary documentation as necessary in partnership with leadership.

Manage and administer the hourly Associate performance appraisal process, ensuring timely completion of tiered and annual reviews with well-balanced assessments by leaders.

Identify training needs as it relates to policy or process changes and coordinate training activities to address those needs; such as annual handbook review.

Manage hourly pay rate changes, including support and guidance on Oracle MSS.

First point of contact for assigned Associates regarding requests for leave; act as liaison to Total Rewards Team and/or leave vendor.

Be a key member of the job description review process for assigned leadership, partnering with the compensation team to ensure adherence to process.

Partners with payroll team to troubleshoot timecard, timeclock, attendance, or pay questions or concerns; ensuring execution of policy and compliance.

Share insights and recommendations for HR program and process improvements and own the implementation of improvements once approved.

Own selected processes for key annual HR initiatives such as Performance and champion the planning, execution, and communication throughout the processes.

Will support HRBP - Manager with Associate Relations investigations or Performance Management related issues for assigned Associates.

Stay current on labor law, compliance, and Associate relations trends.

Lead data reporting execution for HRBP function monthly scorecard, including exit, onboarding, and performance compliance and insights.

Will receive special project requests as needed, creating robust project charters and plans as required.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION

Degree minimum: Bachelor’s Degree

Specific concentration: Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business, or General Management preferred

Experience level: 1 – 2 + years of Human Resources Generalist experience. At least 2+ years of broad HR Coordinator or Specialist experience

SKILLS REQURIED

Exceptional at navigating ambiguous situations and driving recommendations forward independently

Strong relationship and rapport builder with Associates at all levels

Strong customer service orientation required

Strong analytical skills with a continuous improvement mindset

Must be able to manage time and workload independently and successfully manage multiple priorities

Must have experience in employment law, including an understanding of FMLA, ADA, and other leave processes

Ability to exercise discretion when handling confidential information

Proficiency in an HRIS system

Must be able to support a 24/7 operation and prioritize connections with off-shifts
