SKILLS:

The role of a Plant Manager requires a blend of operational management, technical expertise, safety oversight, leadership, and business acumen. 

WHAT YOU WILL DO

As a Plant Manager at 84 Lumber, you will be responsible for all aspects of component manufacturing and the management of associates within the plant. Your role will be pivotal in ensuring the smooth operation of the plant and maintaining high standards of productivity and safety.

A day in the life of a Plant Manager will include:

Completing weekly inventories for lumber and hardware.

Monitoring inventory control.

Optimizing plant layout for efficient inventory flow.

Managing weekly BCS Spreadsheet calculations.

Planning and controlling the plant budget.

Conducting daily walk-through inspections.

Ensuring employee and plant safety and security.

Administering safety and quality training to all new hires and annually to all associates.

Maintaining equipment reliability and calibration.

Scheduling and allocating work among employees.

Determining materials, supplies, equipment, and techniques for quality and efficiency in projects.

Updating the 84 timecard system daily.

Reporting associate attendance, sick time, vacations, and evaluations to corporate.

Participating in associate evaluations, productivity assessments, and disciplinary actions.

Upholding high standards for all associates by performing evaluations, adjusting employee complaints and grievances, and disciplining employees when necessary. This position has the authority to hire and/or terminate associates.

Understand how to perform every position in the plant efficiently and correctly

Correct all quality issues and develop solutions to prevent them

Audit outgoing loads for completeness.

Prepare daily production plan

Qualifications:

Able to speak, read and write Spanish, or be willing to learn (where applicable)

84 Components Fork Truck License

Basic math skills

Willing to relocate

Good leadership skills

Good interpersonal skills

Excellent problem solving skills

Must be able to work under pressure
