Overview:

The Supervisor Gas Control Operations is responsible for managing the daily operations of gas control systems, ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable distribution of natural gas to the 274,000 customers. This position involves supervising a team of gas control operations staff, coordinating with various departments, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements. This role is critical to ensuring the safe and reliable delivery of natural gas, and it requires a combination of technical expertise, leadership, and the ability to manage complex systems under high-pressure situations. #RIE #INDRIE

Responsibilities:

Operations Management

   -Oversee real-time monitoring and control of the Rhode Island Gas Distribution System.

   - Ensure the safe and efficient operation of the natural gas control system.

   - Respond to and manage emergency situations, including gas leaks, equipment failures, and other incidents.

   - Coordinate with field operations, maintenance teams, and other departments.

Team Supervision

   - Manage and supervise a team of gas control operators.

   - Develop work schedules, assign tasks, and monitor performance.

   - Provide training and development opportunities for staff to ensure high levels of competency.

Compliance and Safety

   - Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations related to gas distribution and control.

   - Implement and enforce safety protocols to protect employees, customers, and the public.

   - Conduct regular safety audits and reviews to identify and mitigate risks.

System Maintenance and Improvement

   - Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to maintain and improve gas control systems.

   - Recommend and implement enhancements to improve system reliability and efficiency.

   - Ensure all equipment and systems are maintained according to industry standards and company policies.

Reporting and Documentation

   - Maintain accurate records of all gas control activities, including incidents, maintenance work, and system performance.

   - Prepare and present reports on system performance, safety metrics, and compliance status.

   - Ensure all documentation is up-to-date and accessible for regulatory inspections.

Stakeholder Coordination

   - Serve as a point of contact for internal and external stakeholders regarding gas control operations.

   - Coordinate with emergency response teams, regulatory agencies, and customers during incidents.

   - Communicate effectively with management and other departments to ensure alignment on operational goals.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Energy Management, or a related field or 8+ years of experience in gas operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role, preferably in gas control.

- Strong knowledge of natural gas systems, control room operations, and regulatory requirements.

- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

- Ability to work under pressure and make quick, effective decisions in emergency situations.

- Proficiency in gas control software and SCADA systems.

Working Conditions

- May require shift work, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

- On-call availability for emergency situations.

- Work is primarily in a control room environment with occasional field visits.
