Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Corporate Controller the Tax Manager provides leadership and supports the full tax function for the family office, including gathering information on behalf of the Company to support tax compliance for all tax types both domestically and globally. You will collaborate with the company’s accounting and finance functions in performing your duties. You will also collaborate with in-country resources to ensure headquarters has a global view of tax operations and results. You will be responsible for partnering with the Company’s tax service providers to appropriately account for taxes in the Company’s financial statements and engage in forward looking tax planning discussions. You will also be responsible for supplying all necessary information to tax service providers to ensure global tax compliance. The incumbent is the principal interface for tax matters between corporate and the divisional finance teams and must be able to move beyond reporting to working with key stakeholders to understand the market, business dynamics and implications. This role requires the ability to learn quickly, think & communicate clearly and provide positive influence throughout the organization.
This role:
Manages communication between the external tax provider and the IDEAL business
Provides subject matter expertise on tax to the IDEAL business
Manages annual tax provision and tax optimization strategies
Partners with Legal on entity structure for tax planning of the IDEAL business
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Collaborate with service provider to map out engagement teams and timelines covering various tax types: income tax, sales tax, property tax, payroll tax, etc.
Work with accounting teams to gather necessary information to provide to tax compliance service providers
Understand the business and educate business stakeholders on tax implications of business activities
Stay apprised of strategic business decisions and ensure tax implications are considered
Collaborate with outside advisors to consider and present to leadership potential tax planning opportunities, including but not limited to opportunities that arise as a result of changing tax law
Review tax returns prepared by the outside service provider and present results to leadership for sign off
Conduct primary review of third-party prepared income tax provision for financial statements and walk through the estimate with leadership
Research various tax matters and collaborate with Company leadership on scoping technical areas requiring further external support
Respond to inquiries from the IRS, State, and other tax authorities
Qualifications:

Advanced written and verbal communication skills
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting (CPA preferred)
Minimum five to seven years of progressive tax compliance and/or tax consulting experience
Experience in a family office setting and familiarity with an S corp and C corp structure
Experience in corporate income tax and familiarity with sales and use tax, property tax, employment tax types
Excellent analytical, technical, and tax accounting/technology skills with proficiency in US GAAP and corporate income tax laws and regulations
Strong working knowledge of broad-based statutory income tax compliance and consulting including state and local income taxes, taxation of international activity, and transfer pricing
Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
Ability to communicate effectively with executive leadership, divisional staff, and non-tax professionals
Strong teamwork, analytical skills, project management capabilities, and attention to detail
Working experience with reporting tools like One Stream preferred
