Responsibilities:

Under general direction, the Supervisor, Ultrasound oversees all Ultrasound areas on each shift as the responsible authority for patient care of neonate, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric populations. The Supervisor, Ultrasound assumes responsibility for overseeing a comprehensive spectrum of excellent Ultrasound services, including overseeing general and Vascular Ultrasound procedures and troubleshooting any related issues. The Supervisor, Ultrasound monitors activities relative to delivery of patient care and plant management/operations. 

Essential Functions: 

Makes independent ultrasound and administrative judgments relative to patient care and plant management in order to provide continuity in the delivery of hospital services.

Collaborates with Department Directors to provide input for annual capital and personnel budgets.

Assumes special assignments as requested by the Director of Radiology.

Coordinate and supervise daily department activities, including personnel, patient care, budget, and regulatory compliance.

Communicates and collaborates with all Grand View Health personnel, hospital management, medical staff, patients and families in order to facilitate patient care and interpret policies and procedures.

Reports significant occurrences and incidents (e.g., plant management, physician conflicts, and staff relationships) in order to promote awareness and provide efficient follow through.

Directs and evaluates work performance of Ultrasound Department personnel to assure competent delivery of care to patients of all ages.

Provides ongoing assessment and guidance to employees in order to meet individual needs (e.g., personal/professional conflicts, skill-enhancement needs, etc.)

Participates in all aspects of Ultrasound staffing. Interviews, hires, performance evaluations, Counsels, deals with grievances and terminates personnel in compliance with the policies of Radiology Department and Human Resources.

Participates in hospital and unit quality-management projects in order to assist with development and monitoring of standards and unit activities. Performs and or oversees Quality Control, manages radiation badges.

Comply with all clinical procedures and regulations and ensuring that team members do the same.

Adhere to all appropriate radiology standards of operation and patient care standards, identifying issues in the system and working to improve these and offering insight to annual strategic plans.

Contribute to the annual budget review, adhere to radiology standards of operation and patient care standards, including meeting efficiency and productivity standards.

Provide care to patients. Provide technical assistance and monitoring in regard to medical imaging including offering guidance as to technique and advice as to general machine operations.

Schedule: Monday - Friday, Day Shift, occasional vacation/on-call rotation.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

Vocational diploma from an Ultrasound program and over 3 years to 5 years’ experience as a Medical Sonographer required 

Over 3 years to 5 years’ experience with body imaging, vascular imaging and breast imaging preferred

Licenses and Certifications:

Medical Sonographer – Certified, Upon hire, required

Registered Vascular Technologist – Certified Vascular Sonographer, Upon hire, preferred

Registered Vascular Technologist – Certified, Within 1 year of hire, required

Basic Life Support (BLS), Upon hire, required
