Job Summary:

Assists in the development and administration of employee salary administration programs.  Confers with management to identify compensation needs, job specifications, job duties, qualifications and skills.  Reviews proposed salary actions to ensure conformance with established guidelines and policies.  Participates in salary surveys and analyzes results to determine Cherokee Nation's market relationship.  Works with Cherokee Nation management in the development of career ladders.  Writes new job descriptions and revises current ones.

Job Duties:

Provides information and interpretation regarding Cherokee Nation Human Resources Policies and Procedures.  Participates in special projects, as assigned.  Confers with management to identify compensation needs, job specifications, job duties, qualifications and skills.  Reviews proposed salary actions to ensure conformance with established guidelines and policies.  Participates in salary surveys and analyzes results to determine Cherokee Nation's market relationship.  Writes new job descriptions and revises current ones.  Develops recommendations to adjust salary structure in response to changing organizational needs and market values.  Conducts job analysis to determine appropriate salary level according to compensation guidelines and policy and procedures.  Reviews proposals for new or revised classifications to determine appropriate salary grade assignment.  Participates in development and administration of performance review system to ensure compliance with salary administration guidelines.  Researches special compensation programs or incentive systems to support the organization's objectives.  Works with Cherokee Nation management in the development of career ladders.  Assists with the maintenance of the human resources information system (HRIS) system and the adoption and setup of new modules.  Enters data into the HRIS system as requested. Other duties may be assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES 

No supervisory responsibility.

Qualifications:

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT 

Bachelor's degree from 4-year college or university in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Public Administration or other business related field; or six years related experience; or equivalent combination of education or experience.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT 

Two (2) additional years of related experience is required.

COMPUTER SKILLS 

An individual should have knowledge of Database software; Human Resource systems; Internet software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS 

Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of principles and practices of compensation administration.  Effective oral and written communication skills.  Excellent interpersonal skills.  Ability to organize and prioritize work.  Ability to multi-task.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

Employee must not and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG’s Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA’s List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG’s List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS  

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT 

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
