About the role: As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting children with ASD in both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. You’ll be working closely with class teachers and the school’s SENCO to ensure each child is able to reach their full potential. This is a full-time, long-term role where you will form lasting connections with students, providing one-on-one support as well as working with small groups to help them access the curriculum and develop key social and emotional skills. The ideal candidate will be patient, nurturing, and committed to making a real difference in the lives of children with autism. Previous experience working with SEN children is a plus, but more important is your passion for education, adaptability, and willingness to learn.

About the school: The school is a warm and inclusive community situated in Brent, committed to fostering a positive, supportive environment for both staff and students. The school is known for its specialist SEN provision, with dedicated staff and resources to support children with a wide range of additional needs, particularly those on the autism spectrum. The classrooms are spacious, and the school prides itself on having excellent facilities, including sensory rooms, dedicated quiet spaces, and outdoor learning environments to help students engage in a calm and structured way.

Application Requirements:

• Previous experience working with children, particularly those with special educational needs (preferably ASD).
• A patient, empathetic, and nurturing approach.
• A genuine passion for supporting children to achieve their full potential.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work full-time and commit to a long-term role.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide one-on-one and small group support to children with ASD across Key Stage 1 and 2.
• Assist in the planning and delivery of tailored learning programs.
• Help manage challenging behaviours in a positive and effective manner.
• Work collaboratively with teachers and SEN specialists to ensure individual education plans (IEPs) are followed and adapted as needed.
• Promote social and emotional development through a variety of learning activities and play-based approaches.

Perks and Benefits:

• Competitive daily rate of £85-£100.
• Opportunity to work in a supportive, inclusive, and well-resourced school.
• Continuous professional development and training in SEN education.
• A friendly and welcoming team that values staff well-being and professional growth.
• Access to excellent facilities, including sensory rooms, outdoor learning spaces, and quiet areas designed to support SEN students.
