Job Overview:

Shriners Children's is the premier pediatric burn, orthopaedic, spinal cord injury, cleft lip and palate, and pediatric subspecialties medical center.  We have an opportunity for a part-time Environmental Services Tech  to join our Housekeeping Team.

This position is a Part Time, Exempt and Benefits Eligible.  The pay range for this position is $15.70 - $19.66/ hourly.  Compensation is based on years of expeience and departmental equity. 

Responsibilities:

Performs a variety of custodial and housekeeping duties, maintains desired standards of cleanliness, sanitation and appearance throughout the entire hospital in all patient zone areas, Dining areas, administration buildings, internal and external environments. 

Leads cleaning activities in assigned areas. Includes being able to use and maintain cleaning tools, equipment, understand chemical usage and storage.  Be able to determine defects and repairs needed during routine tasks and submits timely maintenance requests. Be able to communicate inventory levels for all department supplies and materials.  Use of computers to relay this information is highly desirable. 

Understands the importance of handling, transporting and disposal of trash, regulating medical waste, hazardous waste and solied linens.  Using signs and other safety precausions including PPE, understanding SDS, utilizing proper lifting, pushing and pulling to avoid injury to self or others at all times. 

Performs a variety of hard and carpet floor care to include stripping, mopping and buffing floors on a routine basis.

Cleans patient rooms including discharges according to departmental procedures.  Cleans patient and public rest rooms according to departmental procedures. 

Participate in Setting up and Breaking down for meetings and events throughout the hospital according to facilities protocol. Moving/transporting items as requested without damage to the items or surroundings. 

Physically able to stand, walk, lift, carry, grasp, push, pull, bend, kneel, crawl and/or climb to successfully perform daily essential tasks.

Participates in staff development and training within the department. Teamwork and team coverage is key to scheduling needs and rotational assignments.

Respond to Customers, Staff, Patients, families and Visitors with respect, courtesy and in a helpful manner at all times. 

Perform other duties as assigned or requested willingly and promplty, and with a posittive attitude. 

Abide by all Attendance and Tardiness policies for the hospital found in the Employee handbook. 

Qualifications:

Education

High school diploma/ GED  preferred

Experience 

Minimum 1 year healthcare environmental services experience preferred. Some experience in all phases of Environmental Services is helpful.

Must be able to read and comprehend policies and procedures, work assignments, safety information and understand basic units of measure (ounce, pint, gallon, etc) when working with chemicals.
