My client in the Dewsbury area require an experienced Transport Manager.

Job Purpose:

The Transport Manager will oversee and facilitate logistics operations to ensure the efficient and timely distribution of furniture into private senior living settings. This role involves managing personnel, fleet, transport planning, and delivery schedules, liaising with internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth operations and customer satisfaction. The role also includes monitoring, analysing, and optimizing logistics data to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.

Key Responsibilities:

Transport & Delivery Planning:
Plan, schedule, and maintain delivery requirements, optimizing routes for cost-efficiency and timely delivery.
Monitor finished goods across multiple sites and coordinate deliveries with suppliers to reduce delivery charges.
Coordinate furniture movements and create delivery schedules that align with project installation timelines.
Communicate effectively with internal teams, including project management and customer care, to coordinate logistics.
Track vehicles and ensure on-time deliveries.
Fleet & Transport Management:
Manage the company's transport fleet, including maintenance, compliance, and efficient vehicle use.
Supervise and arrange transportation, ensuring alignment with project teams and install schedules.
Recruit, train, and manage logistics staff, including drivers and external support where needed.
Compliance & Data Management:
Ensure compliance with transportation laws, environmental regulations and safety standards.
Adhere to company Health and Safety policy and procedures.
Analyse logistics data and performance metrics to identify inefficiencies and areas for improvement.
Maintain logs and records of deliveries and prepare accurate reports for upper management.
Administrative & Financial Management:
Manage budgets for transport, personnel, and third-party costs.
Prepare department reports for stakeholders, including third-party costs and OTIF (on-time in full) delivery metrics.
Perform administrative duties to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
Additional Responsibilities:

Develop and inspire strategic transport and logistics policies and procedures to enhance overall efficiency.
Key Skills Required:

Excellent planning, organisational, and coordination skills.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple processes simultaneously.
Proficiency with logistics IT systems (ERP, Microsoft NAV), and software including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Strong analytical abilities to interpret logistics data and make data-driven decisions.
Qualifications & Experience:

Transport Manager's Certificate of Professional Competency (CPC) or working towards this.
O Licence and understanding of relevant laws and standards.
3-5 years of experience in logistics planning, management, or a related role.
