Planning/Urban Design Assistant
Berkshire
Salary: £23,000 - £28,000 depending on experience.
Location: Office-based full-time, with potential for some home working after an initial 6-9 month period.

Are you passionate about urban design and looking for a dynamic role where you can make a real impact on residential developments? We are seeking a Planning/Urban Design Assistant to join our client and support their designers at every stage of the development process. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the creation of vibrant, well-planned communities while developing your skills and expertise in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:
·Research & Policy Analysis: Conduct thorough research on local and national policy to inform the design process for residential projects.
·Site Assessment & Neighbourhood Characterisation: Assist in defining site parameters and understanding neighbourhood context to guide design development.
·Client Liaison: Collaborate with clients to ensure their requirements and aspirations are fully understood and integrated into the scheme.
·Pre-Application Support: Help manage and prepare pre-application submissions, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
·Design Development: Support the evolution of the design as it progresses toward a formal planning application.
·Design and Access Statement Preparation: Assist in the creation and management of Design and Access Statements.
·Supporting Documentation: Contribute to the preparation of briefing documents, presentations, consultation materials, and other supporting information.

Skills & Experience:
·A solid understanding of local policy and guidance to provide clear and concise summaries to the design team and clients.
·Strong written communication skills with a good grasp of urban design terminology.
·Basic proficiency in InDesign, with the ability to create and format written documents, incorporating simple graphics and layouts.
Opportunity:
·Further your skills in InDesign, working towards mastery in creating polished, professional documents.
·Gain familiarity with the Adobe Suite to enhance presentation materials and graphics.
·Progress your involvement in shaping and advancing design principles for new developments.
·Experience with AutoCAD, SketchUp, or Unreal Engine would be advantageous, but not essential. Training and support will be provided to help you grow into the role.

The company are offering a completely flexible working arrangement which can be discussed in the interview.
