Job Overview
As a Clinical Functional Assessor, you will play a vital role in the Work Capability Assessment (WCA) process. The WCA is an essential evaluation conducted by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) to determine individuals’ eligibility for financial support due to health-related issues. Your responsibilities will include:

Conducting thorough assessments: Engage with individuals through telephone and face-to-face interactions, exploring their health conditions and how these impact their daily lives and ability to work.
Collecting and analyzing information: Gather relevant medical histories and social backgrounds to create a comprehensive view of each individual's situation, ensuring every detail is noted for the assessment.
Utilizing clinical knowledge: Apply your clinical skills to evaluate how physical and mental health conditions affect an individual's capacity for work. This includes using clinical judgment to interpret findings meaningfully.
Writing detailed reports: Compile and document your findings in a clear, concise manner, ensuring they are accurate and informative for the DWP's decision-making process.
Communicating effectively: Clearly convey your assessments and findings, both verbally and in writing, to ensure that individuals understand the outcome of their assessment.
Providing empathetic support: Your compassionate approach will help individuals feel comfortable and valued throughout the assessment process, promoting a supportive environment.This role shifts away from traditional clinical duties, focusing on assessment rather than treatment or diagnosis. You'll leverage your clinical expertise to provide valuable insights while enjoying a structured work-life balance.

Essential Person Specifications

Minimum 2 years post-qualification experience, including 2 years holding registration with the NMC or HCPC
Strong IT skills with proficiency in MS Office and Teams
Active registration with the NMC / HCPC with no restrictions on practice
No prior Functional Assessor experience is required; training will be provided! Previous experience in clinical settings is advantageous but not essential.
Additional Information

Hybrid Working: Flexible arrangement between home-based and on-site work
Part-Time Opportunities: Options for 32 or 24 hours per week after training completion
Standard Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30 AM - 5:00 PM. Enjoy your weekends, bank holidays, and no last-minute shifts!
