Registered Manager - Residential Children’s Home

Accountable to: Responsible Individual

About us

The Company provides care & support to children and young people in various projects across London and the Counties. Our semi-independent projects are for care leavers, who do not possess the ability to live independently and require 24/7 staff support. The focus of our service delivery is to help and support our clients to develop their independent living skills whilst in transition towards adulthood and being able to manage their own tenancy in the community effectively. Thus, the Company is obliged to ensure its policies and procedures are aimed at safeguarding the service users.

We are currently setting up Residential Children's homes and seeking a Registered Children's Manager who has the ability to build and maintain rapport with clients while providing an exceptional level of service.

Key Responsibilities and Main duties

General:

* Responsibility for the management of services, including staff management and supervisions, care and placement planning, safeguarding, communications, report writing and monitoring overall quality and compliance of service

* Ensure that full implementation of statutory ad organizational policies and procedures and provide feedback on the effectiveness of all policies and procedures

* Compliance with legal and regulatory requirements such as provisions set out in the Children’s Home Regulations and Quality Standards 2015, Children’s Act 1989, Data Protection and GDPR, Health and Safety at Work Act and Working Together to Safeguard children 2019.

* Ensure that the staff have the skills, experience and qualifications required to meet the individual needs of each child. To ensure that consistency of care is provided.

* Ensure that all required reports are completed in line with timescales. This includes monthly review of the service through monitoring and audits linking into the service development plan.

* To ensure that each child has individual care and care planning which is child focused and personalized to meet their needs. These plans should be reflective of the long-term plan for the child, working closely with the placing Local Authorities.

* To oversee and manage the move plan for any child moving to our home and establish positive multi agency and partnership working

* To ensure that referrals are considered in a timely manner and comprehensive impact risk assessments are completed when considering any placement.

* To maintain good relationships with Commissioning Teams.

Knowledge and understanding

* Children’s Home Regulations and Quality Standards 2015, Single Social Care Inspection Framework (SSCIF), Children’s Act 1989, Children and Families Act 2014, Care Standards Act 2000, Children’s Act 2004, Working together to Safeguard Children 2019, Health and Safety at Work Act and all associated guidance and regulations

* Policies and procedures pertaining to running a residential children’s home

* Child protections, safeguarding children, impact of abuse and neglect, education, and health needs of looked after children, equality and diversity and children’s rights

* Care and placement planning, risk and review processes

* Understanding of the education, health, social, emotional and psychological needs of looked after children and young people and how to ensure their needs are met

Skills and abilities

* Ability to lead and inspire a staff team, take responsibility for the staff team training and development, supervision, rosters ensuring continuity of care

* Ability to manage stress and difficult dynamics and demonstrate emotional resilience

* Capable of performing a wide variety of administrative tasks consistent with the day-to-day management of the home

* Prioritize and organize workload in a manner that maintains quality, evaluating the quality of own and other’s work and raises any quality issues and related risks to individual person

* To be “fit” to manage a children’s home as outlined in the requirements for a Registered Manager

* Ability to sustain and work through placement issues to prevent placement breakdowns

* Ability to monitor the service for quality of care and in line with the requirements of Ofsted inspection

Essential Qualifications & Experience

* Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Children’s Residential, or equivalent

* Demonstrate commitment to continuing personal development

* Previous experience in a deputy manager or registered manager role in a Residential Children’s Care Setting

* Working with children, young people, and their families

* Work in a residential setting
