Central is currently recruiting for a Progression Coach, to work in the Croydon area. The service provides accommodation and support to young people under the age of 18 with high support needs.

The successful candidates will be required to work 37.5 hours per week, working across Monday - Sunday on a rota basis covering early (8AM - 4PM) and late (2PM - 10PM) shifts. Temporary cover is required for approximately 3-4 months, with the possibility of extension. The pay rate is £14.17 per hour, with £1.71 holiday pay, totalling £15.88 per hour.

In this position, you will be expected to;

* Hold a caseload of 3-4 key clients and conduct two key working sessions weekly resulting in SMART outcomes-based support plans

* Complete comprehensive risk and needs assessments

* Deliver one-to one and group support opportunities within clients accommodation and in the local community aimed at increasing resilience

* Proactively work in partnership with multiple agencies including statutory teams, to support the wellbeing of clients

* Support clients to maximize their benefit entitlement primarily by making Housing Benefits and Universal Claims

* Support clients to sustain their tenancy and participate in positive and successful move on

* Involve clients in the decisions made about them and encourage participation in a wider community program of activities

* Support all clients to participate in Education, Training, Employment and Volunteering opportunities as appropriate to the development of their skills, assets and aspirations

* Prepare the accommodation for new clients to move into and support the client to settle in

* Ensure the health and safety of the environment for clients, staff, visitors and volunteers through regular checks and reporting

* Undertake housing management tasks including cleaning, taking out the bins and carrying out fire drills

Please note: this role involves lone working

* Experience of working with young people or clients with mental health and/or complex needs

* An understanding of the needs of people who have experienced homelessness, poor mental health and substance use

* Essential: Experience of working in a Supported Housing environment

* Experience and knowledge of Housing management, ETE and Health & Safety

* Knowledge of sign up and move on processes

* Experience of holding a caseload, conducting support plans, risk assessments and needs assessments

* The ability to demonstrate clear understanding of safeguarding requirements and procedures

* An understanding and commitment to working in an assets-based way

* Experience of working with challenging behaviour and confidence to manage these situations

* IT competent; use of Word, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Office

In order to register with Central Recruitment Services for temporary agency work, candidates must meet the following criteria:

* Current valid right to work in the UK

* Minimum 12 months’ of paid experience in a front line social care role within the last 3 years* (unless recruitment criteria states otherwise)

* A fully enhanced DBS either registered on the DBS update service or issued within the last 12 months, or willingness to apply for one through Central (at a cost of £50)

* Employment or education history to cover the last 5 years which can be verified through the referencing process
