Central is currently recruiting for an Assistant Progression Coach, to work in the Haringey area. The service provides accommodation and support to vulnerable adults who have experienced homelessness and have complex needs.

The successful candidate will be required to work 37.5 hours per week, working across Monday – Sunday on a rota basis, covering early (8AM – 4PM), mid (11AM – 7PM) and late (2:30 PM – 10:30PM) shifts. There is a requirement to work every other weekend. Temporary cover is required for approximately 1-2 months. The pay rate for this role is £13.79 per hour, with £1.66 holiday pay, totalling £15.45 per hour.

In this position, you will be expected to;

* Hold a caseload of 2-3 clients and conduct regular key work sessions

* Cover all reception tasks, including dealing with phones, petty cash management and rent collection, project post, and all reception enquiries

* Lead on completing the health and safety requirements of the project including regular building and fire checks, reporting issues promptly and liaising with contractors

* Deal with the immediate support needs of clients as appropriate, providing crisis intervention where necessary.

* Coordinate appointments for clients e.g. with GP/DWP/Probation and to accompany clients on visits to other services where appropriate

* Provide advice to clients on housing, health, welfare benefit claims and other issues as necessary

* Diffuse difficult or dangerous situations, resolve conflict between service users effectively and sensitively and to summon outside emergency or other assistance when necessary

* Prepare the accommodation for new clients to move into and supporting the client to settle in

* Work within a psychologically environment to facilitate change and support clients with challenging behaviours and complex needs

To apply for this role, you must have;

* Experience of working with homeless and complex needs clients

* Experience of dealing directly with the public and/or clients or customers in a busy service environment

* Experience of managing a caseload of key clients

* Experience of dealing with complex and difficult behaviours in relation to people

* The willingness to develop skills to support people who may be in difficult personal or emotional situations

* Personal experience of homelessness and/or an understanding of and empathy with the issues faced by those experiencing homelessness

* The ability to maintain enthusiasm for a high level of contact with clients on a day-to-day basis

* Understanding of the importance of discretion and confidentiality in relation to work and maintaining professional boundaries

* Commitment to promoting an environment which has the highest regard for the health and safety of others

* Good literacy, numeracy and IT skills, to maintain clear and accurate records

Candidates should confirm their interest as soon as possible, with interviews scheduled shortly after and the appointed candidate expected to start as soon as possible.

In order to register with Central Recruitment Services for temporary agency work, candidates must meet the following criteria:

* Current valid right to work in the UK

* Minimum 12 months’ of paid experience in a front line social care role within the last 3 years* (unless recruitment criteria states otherwise)

* A fully enhanced DBS either registered on the DBS update service or issued within the last 12 months, or willingness to apply for one through Central (at a cost of £50)

* Employment or education history to cover the last 5 years which can be verified through the referencing process
