About the role:

We are looking for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant with a specialism in Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) to join our close-knit team. This is a full-time, long-term role, perfect for someone passionate about working with children who have autism and helping them overcome challenges in the classroom. You’ll work closely with the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator), class teachers, and other professionals to support pupils, predominantly in Key Stages 1 and 2, ensuring their learning experience is accessible and meaningful.

This position requires patience, creativity, and an understanding of ASD. You will be instrumental in developing tailored learning strategies, providing 1:1 support, and encouraging positive social interaction for pupils who may experience difficulties in a typical school setting.

Application Requirements:

• Have experience working with children with ASD in an educational setting.

• Possess knowledge of effective communication strategies and techniques to engage students with autism.

• Are passionate about promoting inclusion and celebrating every child’s unique potential.

• Have a calm, empathetic, and resilient personality, able to build strong relationships with pupils and staff.

• Ideally, hold a relevant qualification or have substantial experience in working with SEN children (though not essential).

Key Responsibilities:

• Providing tailored 1:1 and group support for pupils with ASD, helping them achieve academic and social goals.

• Developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with teachers and the SENCO.

• Assisting in creating a supportive, safe, and stimulating learning environment for pupils.

• Encouraging and facilitating positive social interaction and communication skills through structured activities.

• Monitoring and reporting on the progress of the children, ensuring that their educational and emotional needs are met.
