Principle Electrical Design Engineer - Remote/Scunthorpe
£70,000 - £85,000 + Car Allowance

Main Purpose of Role:
The position holder will be responsible for communicating with customers, the DNO, and the construction team to ensure that the design approval process and the design construction process run smoothly. They will be expected to help the construction team interpret the designs and conduct audits when necessary to ensure quality.

In addition to these responsibilities, the role will also involve leading and training other members of the electrical design team, as well as approving and signing off on their work.

The position holder will be required to contribute to business development efforts as needed by the commercial team for new projects.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead the design of projects and bids.
- Promote and maintain a culture of continuous improvement within the team and ensure the team and processes are developed continuously.
- Coordinate with DNO/IDNOs to obtain design approval.
- Guide the customer through the design process.
- Provide project cost estimates and reports.
- Obtain technical or major procurement item quotations.
- Assist and mentor junior team members in their development.
- Review the quality and technicalities of work produced by other team members.
- Approve electrical, protection, manufacturer, and consultant designs.
- Ensure that the design approval process is managed appropriately and clients are managed through the design process.
- Attend design reviews, design team meetings, and project meetings.
- Actively support Business Development by building close working relationships and identifying additional business development opportunities that may arise during project delivery.

Qualifications and Experience:
- Degree in relevant engineering subject
- CEng or working towards CEng.
- A highly motivated individual with excellent interpersonal skills
- Possess excellent communication skills and be confident in a client facing role.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in Electrical Distribution design up to and including 132kV.
- Experience in using AutoCAD, Windebut ERACS or other Power system software.
- Possess a clean current driving licence.
