Responsibilities:
As our CNA at St. John's you’ll help our patients feel safer and more comfortable by assisting with their basic daily life activities.
Your success in this role comes from your genuine desire to help patients feel better, whether that means giving them fresh bed linens or checking their vitals. You’re diligent about your tasks, observant of patients’ conditions improving or declining, and accept coaching well. You know we’re all continuously trying to become better care providers, and you’re eager to learn.
In keeping with the Dignity Health core values, CNAs support and promote the provision of quality patient care and actively participates as a team member in the systems functions and activities of the unit/department.
This position is represented by SEIU-UHW and is covered by the terms and conditions of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.

Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
Six (6) months recent hospital or long term care facility experience as CNA
High school education
Successful completion of Certified Nursing Assistant program
Nurse Assistant Certification (CT NA)
CPR certification (CT CPRBLS)
Please be advised that this location requires quarterly American Heart Association (AHA) Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) competency certification post-hire. This ongoing competency is required through resources internal to the facility; outside RQI competency resources are not acceptable for CommonSpirit Health compliance requirements.
Special Skills:
Communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing clearly concisely and accurately.
Ability to utilize and learn new computer programs for documentation
Establish and maintain effective working relationships
Operate IVAC thermometer vital sign check machine blood pressure cuff.
Knowledge of medical terminology and basic procedures
Ability to educate family members regarding appropriate activities listed below as indicated by ability of resident and willingness of family
Ability to perform care functions that may include but not necessarily be limited to:
Ambulation
Eating assistance
ADLs
ROM (AROM & PROM)
Bowel and Bladder Training
Splint/Brace/Prosthesis placement/care
