General Position Description:

A recognized authority within the company, known for solving complex technical problems with highly innovative solutions. Provides technical expertise on cloud cluster computing, algorithms, and data management, supporting both research and production environments for a diverse range of clients.

Key Points:

Program Description:

With a fresh, new 7-year contract, this program provides SETA (Systems Engineering Technical Advisor) & SE&I (Systems Engineering & Integration) services to an important Intelligence Community (IC) customer with a focus on critical, assured space communications and supporting IT infrastructure.  The contract support is part of the customer core team focused on all aspects of the systems engineering life cycle beginning with conops development, where we work directly with users, potentially going into harm's way, who will be dependent on these communications systems.  We then capture their requirements and work closely with developers to deliver these essential capabilities.  We get involved with setting up and running tests to ensure these cutting-edge capabilities will meet the stringent requirements and then we support transition to operations.  Once in operations, our teams work closely with the users to make sure critical operations are successful, providing important information to support critical decisions by policy makers. The program also supports client acquisition strategy, future technology development and modernization efforts.

Specific Position Description:

The position is located in Chantilly, VA.  The Cloud Solutions Architect supports hybrid computing efforts by providing recommendations and advice regarding the design and architecture of the client’s planned cloud-based hybrid computing environment. Tasks include understanding the customer’s cloud computing objectives, formulating details plans and recommendations to support the customer’s adoption of, migration to or governance/management of Cloud computing and other Cloud oriented activities.

Responsibilities:

Understanding of and experience with commercially available cloud computing services such as Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Software as a Service (SaaS) and other emerging cloud services. 

Decompose large monolithic applications into cloud based micro-service architectures.

Knowledge of cloud strategy development, adoption of commercial cloud best practices, 

solutions architecture, and application and data migration

Provide recommendations for cloud strategy development, adoption of commercial cloud best practices, solutions architecture, and application and data migration. 

Perform and document detailed analyses to support assessing and developing architectural mitigations to maintain overall capability performance requirements.

Understanding of ICD-503 security controls and design, architecture, implementation, migration, testing, and assessing of AWS, Azure, or similar in applying requirements to implement cloud solutions.

Understanding of industry standards, guidelines, and regulatory and compliance requirements related to information security and cloud computing, such as ISO 27001, CSA, NIST 800-53, PCI DSS, or SOC2.  

Qualifications:

Required: 

Must possess and be able to maintain a Top Secret/SCI clearance with Poly

10 to 12 years with BS or 8 to 10 years with MS or 5 to 7 years with a PHd.

Technical BS in Engineering, Computer Science or related technical degree.

8 years minimum experience within information technology architecting and implementing solutions (solutions cover initiatives such as deployment of business applications, deployment of enterprise tools, etc.)

Demonstrated understanding of principles supporting compute, network, storage, and their application within the cloud (AWS and/or Azure).

Demonstrated understanding of application architectures (web tier, application tier, database tier) and their implementation in the cloud.

Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic, and energetic environment.

Demonstrated ability to lead teams requiring collaboration, open communication, and willingness to work in a pair-programming style collaborative work environment.

Strong oral and written communication skills

Desired:

Deep understanding of cloud engineering methods, applications, and best practices for sustaining an enterprise cloud environment.

Demonstrated understanding of security best practices and their application as they relate to cloud-based environments and workloads (access management, monitoring, configuration management, etc.)

Understanding of DevSecOps pipelines and toolsets and how they can work to create an enterprise shared service.

Deep understanding of enterprise architecture principles and practices with the ability to identify, rationalize, and solution opportunities for improvement.

Ability to prioritize, balance, and direct team member activities between ad-hoc tasking and planned initiatives.

Experience in developing, planning, and implementing strategic initiatives within a roadmap.
