Job Title: Senior Quantity Surveyor – Civil Engineering
Contractor: Leading UK Construction and Infrastructure Company

Purpose of the Role - Senior Quantity Surveyor:
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the commercial management of major civil engineering projects. This role requires managing financial risks, preparing accurate reports, and ensuring the financial success of both large-scale and smaller infrastructure projects. You will collaborate with project managers to oversee contract administration and ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget, making a significant impact on the UK’s critical infrastructure.

Key Accountabilities - Senior Quantity Surveyor:

Lead commercial management for large-scale civil engineering projects or several smaller projects.
Ensure timely submission of performance data for monthly and quarterly reviews.
Collaborate with Project Managers to monitor and ensure contract compliance and financial success.
Draft and approve sub-contracts, ensuring compliance with commercial standards.
Oversee payment applications, ensuring timely submission of claims and final accounts.
Manage sub-contractor performance to ensure efficient and timely project delivery.
Involvement in dispute avoidance and resolution, ensuring all issues are handled swiftly and effectively.
Lead project meetings, maintaining effective communication with stakeholders.
Ensure accurate cost forecasting, contract valuations, and performance reports are delivered on time.
Competency Requirements - Senior Quantity Surveyor:

Extensive knowledge of the UK construction industry and the parties involved.
Strong understanding of measurement, valuation, and standard forms of contract.
Ability to negotiate with clients and sub-contractors, preparing sub-contracts and resolving disputes.
Proven track record of delivering accurate financial forecasts and reports.
Experience with final accounts and risk assessments in collaboration with project teams.
Experience managing large sub-contracts for major works.
Professional membership of a recognised institute (e.g., RICS) is highly desirable.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management tools.
Technical/Professional Expertise and Qualifications - Senior Quantity Surveyor:

Experience in the water or civil engineering industry is highly desirable.
Experience with CEMAR and COINS (desirable but not essential).
Ability to lead teams and manage commercial aspects of large infrastructure projects.
Experience resolving disputes and ensuring financial success on live projects.
