Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Design Manager/Coordinator with a proven track record in managing the design process from concept to completion. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Tekla Structures, as well as balustrade and staircase design experience, and will oversee all design-related activities, ensuring projects are delivered efficiently, accurately, and to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities:

* Project Design Management: Oversee the entire design process, from the initial client brief through to the final handover, ensuring all design aspects are executed to specification and in line with project deadlines.

* Tekla Structures Expertise: Use Tekla software for structural detailing and modelling, creating detailed drawings and models for steel fabrication projects.

* Balustrade and Staircase Experience: Lead the design and detailing of balustrades, staircases, and other architectural metalwork projects, ensuring accuracy and adherence to specifications.

* Coordination with Teams: Collaborate closely with the fabrication and installation teams to ensure seamless communication and coordination between design and execution phases.

* Client Liaison: Engage with clients to gather project requirements, provide updates, and manage design expectations.

* Technical Drawings: Interpret and produce technical drawings that adhere to industry standards and project specifications.

* Design Review: Ensure all designs are technically sound, efficient, and comply with relevant building codes and safety regulations.

* Resource Management: Manage internal design resources and external consultants, ensuring all design tasks are completed on time and within budget.

* Problem Solving: Address any design-related challenges during the project lifecycle, implementing solutions to keep projects on track.

* Documentation: Maintain up-to-date design documentation, including revisions, project plans, and approval records.

* Compliance and Safety: Ensure all designs comply with health, safety, and environmental standards.

Key Requirements:

* Tekla Structures Proficiency: Extensive experience with Tekla for creating detailed designs and managing project documentation.

* Balustrade and Staircase Expertise: Demonstrable experience in the design and detailing of balustrades, staircases, and other architectural metalwork.

* Design Process Management: Proven experience in managing the design process for steel fabrication projects, from concept to delivery.

* Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of structural steelwork, architectural metalwork, and fabrication techniques.

* Project Management Skills: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, coordinating resources effectively and delivering on time.

* Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with clients, teams, and other stakeholders.

* Problem-Solving Abilities: Ability to resolve design challenges and ensure solutions are implemented effectively.

* Attention to Detail: Meticulous in reviewing designs and ensuring accuracy in technical drawings and specifications.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering, or a related field is a huge bonus.

* 5+ years of experience in steel fabrication design and management.

* Experience with other CAD software in addition to Tekla is a plus.

* Previous experience managing teams and working on large-scale projects, including balustrades and staircases.
