Data Centre Technician

We are seeking a dedicated Data Centre Technician to play a vital role in the installation and maintenance of network cabling, ensuring the smooth operation of hardware systems. This position involves decommissioning equipment and server/network racks, with opportunities for career progression into supervisory or team leadership roles. Comprehensive training and mentorship will be provided. Join our dynamic team and take part in expansive projects, including travel for on-site support.

Role Requirements & Responsibilities

* Attend client sites punctually with all necessary equipment, uniform, documentation, and PPE.

* Possess knowledge of network cabling, optic types, and testing equipment.

* Familiarity with networking terminology and best practices in cabling infrastructure.

* Experience working on medium to large-scale projects with complex scopes.

* Proficiency with network troubleshooting tools like VFLs, OTDRs, and power meters.

* Understanding of routers, switches, and other network devices.

* Patching and dressing fiber and copper cables (training provided where necessary).

* Maintain professional communication and provide excellent customer service.

* Follow client procedures regarding health, safety, and security protocols.

* Collaborate efficiently with managers, team leaders, and other colleagues, reporting arrival times, delays, and safety concerns.

* Complete daily checklists and provide reports on tasks and general administration.

* Regularly inspect IT server/network equipment.

* Install parts and lay additional fiber and copper cabling.

* Test and troubleshoot cabling systems.

* Connect and disconnect equipment in data centres.

* Decommission IT equipment, including servers, networks, and storage devices.

Candidate Requirements

The successful candidate should be adaptable to changing situations, able to work under pressure, and meet strict timelines. Strong communication with clients, colleagues, and vendors is essential.

Candidates must demonstrate the following:

* Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

* Experience installing structured cabling (fiber and copper).

* A valid Class B driver’s license with a clean driving record.

* Basic experience with hand and power tools.

* Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, and email.

* B1 level English proficiency.

* Knowledge of another European language is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

* Experience in data centre, logistics, or construction environments.

* Flexibility to travel for work.

* Ability to complete daily checklists and reports using Excel or Teams.
