General Laborer Human Resources

Temporary Position

2 positions available

$16.00 an hour

Schedule:

19 hours per week

Schedule 1 (for the first position)

Monday-Thursday: 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.

Friday: 8:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m.

Schedule 2 (for the second position)

Monday-Thursday: 1:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m.

Friday: 1:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m.

Position Duties:

BASIC FUNCTION

Under the direction of the Director of Human Resources, perform a wide variety of complex clerical and typing duties involving frequent and responsible contact with employees and the general public.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

- Arrive consistently punctual and prepared to work.

- Maintain regular attendance and comply with attendance record policy.

- Demonstrate positive attitude and behavior.

- Present an appropriate appearance.

- Exhibit good interpersonal relations.

- Complete tasks effectively.

- Relate sensitively to all employees.

- Answer telephones and greet the public and provide information.

- Operate a computer terminal and incorporate software applications.

- Schedule appointments.

- Process incoming and outgoing mail; duplicate, file, and distribute materials as appropriate.

- Prepare and type correspondence, forms, reports, and a variety of other materials; type from oral direction, rough copy, or notes.

- Monitor office supplies and equipment; notify the supervisor of low inventory status or maintenance issues.

- Perform all other related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE OF

- Operations, procedures, and rules of the office environment.

- Record-keeping techniques.

- Computer and software applications.

- Effective oral and written communication skills.

ABILITY TO

- Follow oral and written directions.

- Learn to interpret specific rules and policies and apply them in a variety of office situations.

- Sit or stand for extended periods of time.

- Work with confidentiality.

- Speak in public, making presentations to various group sizes and levels of abilities.

- Organizational and follow-up skills.

- Learn and apply knowledge of schedules, procedures, and the use of equipment and supplies used in an office work environment.

- Perform duties within an office environment with constant interruptions.

Qualification

EDUCATION

High School Diploma or GED and one year of clerical experience in a confidential office environment.

Demonstrated sensitivity to, and understanding of, the diverse academic, socio-economic, cultural, ethnic, and disability backgrounds of community college students.
