Position Overview:

Welcome to the role of Mechanical Field Engineer I.  In this position, you will provide support for a wide range of projects as they progress from concept to installation. The projects vary greatly and consist of anything from custom electromechanical equipment, structures, and robotics, to workstations or equipment mounting. This individual will work in conjunction with engineers and project managers as assigned. The work will be performed in the office, shop, and in the field at customer sites as needed.

This individual possesses a strong understanding of mechanical engineering design principles and requires an aptitude and willingness for both hands-on work in the shop or field and computer design work. This position must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule to include travel and overtime as needed.

What You'll Do:

Ensure assembly, testing, and function of designs are executed accurately and to high quality standards within the scope of work

Recognize and communicate potential design changes that are not included in the Scope of Work or active Change Orders to Engineers and Project Management

Ensure design changes are approved and recorded accurately

Provide troubleshooting to follow a problem to the source and solve the issue

Gather information and pricing for proposal process to include site visits as needed

Collaborate with Project Managers, other engineers, and purchasing to communicate and track equipment and material needs

Maintain and develop a Bill of Materials (BOM) for projects as assigned

Interpret and create schematic drawings, layouts, and other engineering documentation

Perform Mechanical 3D design, 2D drawings, component specification, assembly, and documentation for custom machines, systems, and products as assigned

Develop and execute quality control check lists as needed

Lead and mentor Engineering Technicians in various job duties and tasks as assigned

Provide feedback for performance reviews as needed

What You'll Bring:

6 months’ - 2 years’ internship or relevant mechanical or engineering work experience preferred

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required, Mechanical Engineering degree preferred

Passing FE (Fundamental Engineering Exam) preferred or willing to obtain within 1 year

Valid driver’s license required

Must be willing to attend training and remain updated regarding industry standards

Ability to understand and interpret scope of work for specific tasks

Ability to perform complex mathematical calculations accurately

Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing

Ability to work well both independently and as a team

Possesses proficiency in the use of personal computers to include Microsoft Office Suite

Proficient in the use of software packages such as Inventor, AutoCad, or equivalent design software

Ability to meet deadlines

Willingness to stretch current abilities to learn new skills

Working Conditions

Walk/use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects or tools / Reach with hands and arms / Climb ladders and stairs / crawl/kneel

Sit, talk, listen, observe, read, write, and type

Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unassisted

Perform work on-site in industrial, commercial, and residential locations
