We are looking for a motivated Health & Safety Advisor to join a market leader in their respective industry. Reporting to the General Manager, the successful candidate will be entrusted to lead parts of the business right from the start with responsibility for key results and involve managing hard and soft services, site and facilities maintenance, HSE group and improvement projects for the site. The position will appeal to a strong HSE professional looking for their next challenging role within in a secure and stable company.

Role Description

- Drive a health & safety culture within the working environment to ensure all colleagues adhere to health & safety policies and procedures.

- Develop, implement and monitor the Environmental and Safety Management System, procedures, documentation and audit system.

- Responsible for undertaking EH&S compliance evaluations inspections and audits in line with requirements, co-ordinate outputs and liaise with site management to ensure action are completed.

- Advise on the improvement to ways of working to , continuously improve EH&S standards within the company.

- Identify risks and carry out appropriate risk assessments in all areas. Work with colleagues to encourage a 'near miss reporting' culture.

- Lead and participate in detailed accident/incident investigations and reports, in accordance with relevant H&S legislation and regulations and ensure all notifiable accidents and incidents are reported to the HSE in the appropriate manner and in compliance with the Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 1995 (RIDDOR).

- Produce regular reports and statistics on a daily/weekly/monthly basis.

- Work with, and alongside, colleagues in a supportive role to increase awareness and develop their confidence of health & safety within their roles.

- Develop and train a team of H&S reps, meeting regularly with them to monitor progression.

- Monitor and investigate accidents/near misses and review statistics to establish underlying causes, identify trends and recommend corrective action where necessary.

- Develop and maintain an up-to-date knowledge of best practice and developments in workplace H&S legislation, procedures and safe systems of work.

- Advise on a range of specialist areas such as first aid, fire regulations, hazardous substances, PUWER, etc.

- Promote and coordinate environmental management and sustainability where practical.

- Create and review a company environmental policy.

- Monitor, review and develop the Health & Safety policy.

- Carry out EH&S inductions with all new starters and contractors.

- Ensure appropriate records and statistics are kept and comply with statutory requirements.

- Ensure senior management are regularly informed of key EH&S issues within the Company.

- Ensure senior management are aware of their duties when significant legislation changes.

- Co-ordinate and manage third party contractors on site in accordance with EH&S and BRC regulations.

- Assist in the use of the factory issue system through to conclusion.

Skills and Qualifications

- IOSH managing safely (essential)

- NEBOSH general certificate (essential)

- Level 3 award in education and training (desirable)

- IEMA Certificate in environmental management (desirable)

- Up to date first aid certificate (essential)

- Knowledge of Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work completion

- Accident Investigating

- Broad industry experience

- Experience in the Health & Safety supervision of site activities

- Experience of company environmental responsibilities required

- Computer literate - able to compile reports and develop spreadsheets and create PowerPoint presentations. (word, outlook, excel, etc)

- Excellent attention to detail

- Good written and verbal communication skills

- Ability to use own initiative and a proactive attitude

- Excellent time management skills and able to prioritise multiple tasks
