Summary: Responsible for planning and implementing a developmentally appropriate, child-centered program of activities that promotes the social-emotional, cognitive, and physical development of each child through exploration and discovery. All practices must be consistent with guidelines put forth by Clinton Hill Community & Early Childhood Center, Inc., and Grow NJ Kids.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (This list is not exhaustive, additional duties will be reviewed during orientation)
Establish and maintain a well-organized, safe, clean, learning environment conducive to children's optimal growth and development and assure the well-being and safety of the children in care.
Observe and document each child’s learning and development; maintain current (no less than weekly) documentation in the electronic student portfolio.
Maintain a confidential assessment binder, consisting of developmental assessments, individual goals, and observations of progress toward meeting goals.
Maintain supervision of children during all activities, as defined in the Active Supervision Policy.
Actively involve parents and families in their children's educational process and development.
Establish a positive relationship with each child’s family and communicate regularly via home/center visits, family conferences, daily reports, and informal modes of communication.
Complete quarterly assessment checkpoints and conduct family conferences to discuss children’s developmental progress, needs, and interests.
Ensure full implementation of IFSPs and inclusion of children with disabilities and special needs.
Attend meetings, trainings, and appropriate professional development activities as assigned.
Work some non-traditional hours, including evenings and weekends as assigned.
Requirements
Education and Work Experience Requirements: The successful candidate will possess the following:
Child Development Associate Credential with Infant-Toddler Endorsement required or obtained within 18 months of hire.
Demonstrated attention to detail
Demonstrated beginner to intermediate computer proficiency
Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills
Prior documented work or volunteer experience in a center or home-based childcare program required
Prior documented work or volunteer experience in an infant/toddler program preferred
