Overview:

Job Title: Machine Shop and Material Manager 

Job Location: Williamsport, PA

This position is responsible for managing our in-house machine shop, major subcontracts, procurement of materials, components, supplies, and capital equipment and services consistent with program schedules, contracts, and government specifications. Oversees operation of all standard machines, including tool and die making, as well as general experimental machinery and recommending design changes in equipment and/or materials.  Coordinates and executes machining services for other Stellant Divisions. 

Responsibilities:

Oversees machines shops operations’ personnel (Tool Die Makers, Tool Die Machinists, Machine Operators, and Machinists)

Coordinates machining services in support of other Stellant Divisions

Through a professional staff, ensures purchasing requirements are satisfied in the most cost-effective manner

Recommends design changes in existing equipment, new equipment, materials, and procedures as needed

Ensures equipment and operations are performing at optimum levels

Supports Quality Control in qualifying outside vendors keeping cost-effectiveness in tact

Maintains raw-material inventories at optimum levels

Interacts and seeks input from Engineering and Manufacturing as on need basis

Reviews and approves all purchases, including supporting documentation, above buyers authorized dollar amount, sole-source purchases, and any service agreements

Delegates tasks in the negotiation and management of subcontracts and major subcontracts for electronic components, commodities, and technical service

Documents and approves make vs. buy decisions to comply with DFARS

Manages the Small/Disadvantaged Business Program at facility

Manages the development of the facility Master Subcontracting Plan

Oversees the supplier performance reviews and corrective action process

Conducts vendor performance analysis and takes corrective action to get best value and service

Plans and establishes objectives, goals, standards, forecasts, budgets, programs

Keeps upper management fully informed on department status

Provides direction and training, as needed in all department activities

Participates or leads in any in or out product line transfer for existing or new products

Conducts performance reviews

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, or related degree preferred.

Minimum of five (5) years machine shop management experience

Minimum of ten (10) years materials management experience in DOD environment preferred

Minimum of five (5) years management experience

Solid communication skills, both verbally and written

Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, ERP experience such as LN, SAP, etc
