As a Technology Summer Team Member, you will play a vital role working alongside one of our many Technology Teams. In this role, you’ll utilize your skillset to help develop and enhance our in-house, industry-leading technology. Our technology allows our clients to succeed with industry-first applications, tools and support. You’ll also work on a summer-long project where you’ll collaborate alongside students with backgrounds & passions in software development, databases and infrastructures, cybersecurity, project management, and more!

The Software Development team at UWM designs, develops, tests, and maintains software applications to meet business needs, improve operational efficiency, and enhance user experience through innovative and reliable technology solutions.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

Develop extensible enterprise software using cutting-edge technology.

Develop and design user interface components, web services, full-stack software applications, API and database interactions.

Promote and apply best practices and patterns in software development.

Learn and apply software development standards, guidelines, best practices and patterns.

Learn and apply testing strategies and automation tools.

Participate in cohort project with other Summer Team Members, developing and designing team specific tasks, executing project work, and delivering progress presentations.

Participate in project focused Scrum rituals (standup, refinement, planning, retrospective).

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU:

Graduating with a bachelor’s degree in 2025 or 2026 (current junior/senior status).

The ability to work Monday thru Friday, 40-hours a week, fully on-site in Pontiac, MI from the end of May to mid-August.

Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and excellent time-management skills.

Ability to both thrive in a team environment and effectively work independently to complete assignments on time.

Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to receive and apply feedback.

Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills while being comfortable in a fast-moving environment.

Ability to multitask and demonstrate adaptability and forward thinking in the face of technological or organizational change.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills to communicate complex technical issues and solutions in a clear, simple, and understandable way.

Clear functional understanding of Object Oriented Programming.

Experience using C++, C# or Java, and applied API skills to write full-stack software.

Experience in .NET software development.

Experience using web based technologies (ASP.NET, JavaScript, CSS, React).

Experience querying relational databases to retrieve and modify data (SQL, Oracle).

Functional knowledge of multi-layer version control and sequential environment deployment.

Experience writing and executing effective Unit Tests.

Nice to have:

Work examples of prior projects or experience related to this role.

Prior experience performing activities related to relevant IT roles, such as: Front-end, Back-end, Full-stack Software Development, DevOps Development.
