Position: Nursing/House Supervisor

General Summary of Duties: As a Nursing/House Supervisor, you will play a crucial role in overseeing and managing nursing personnel. Your leadership will ensure the highest standards of patient care and staff support. You will be a visible and accessible leader, providing guidance, coaching, and direction to our dedicated nursing staff.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and support nursing staff by actively engaging in their daily activities.

Participate in QA/PI projects to ensure regulatory compliance.

Strictly follow infection control policies and procedures.

Serve as a role model by adhering to hospital policies and procedures.

Facilitate and adjust scheduling to meet hospital needs.

Provide fair and consistent leadership across all departments.

Communicate and address QI, risk, and safety concerns to the appropriate departments.

Ensure timely completion of variance reports and statements of concern.

Promote patient satisfaction by verifying the use of whiteboards and other criteria.

Manage emergency call-in situations efficiently.

Operate effectively within established hospital procedures during emergencies.

Promote teamwork and clear communication among co-workers.

Uphold patient privacy and confidentiality at all times.

Act as a resource and problem-solver for staff.

Represent the health center with compassion, integrity, and excellence.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to present information and respond to questions effectively.

Strong analytical skills to interpret professional journals, hospital policies, and technical procedures.

Rapid problem-solving abilities to handle a variety of variables and set priorities.

Positive and supportive behavior towards healthcare team members, patients, and families through effective communication and professional demeanor.

Education:

Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.

Associate Degree or Diploma in Nursing with 2-3 years of management experience is required.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree is preferred.

Experience:

Minimum of three years of clinical experience in an acute care setting.

Two to three years of previous management experience is preferred.

Certificates/Licenses:

Current Iowa Registered Nurse License

Current BCLS certification

Current NRP certification within 6 months of hire
