GENERAL OVERVIEW OF KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Licensed Practical Nurse will perform the daily operation of the medication clinic.

ESSENTIAL & CORE FUNCTIONS:

1.    Schedules and monitors medication appointments.

2.    Provides injections.

3.    Provides assistance to doctors.

4.    Constructs medication treatment plans.

5.    Assists with client chart documentation and other types of recordkeeping.

6.    Facilitates family support and education for chronically mentally ill (ICM) clients.

7.    Monitors and records medication side effects.

8.    Maintains inventory of medications.

9.    Calls pharmacies and insurance companies for authorizations.

10.  Files all lab reports and nursing documentation.

11.  Facilitates process for clients’ lab studies and annual medical examinations; monitors and reports anomalies.

12.  Co-facilitates medication education groups with the doctors.

13.  Observes all clients for movement disorders and monitors all such clients.

14.  Observes all medication clients for neurological disorders and monitors all clients with such symptoms.

15.  Fills out forms requesting information from doctors.

16.  Responsible for patient assistance program and Risperdol consta.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.    Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.

PREREQUISITES & QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION:

PREREQUISITES & QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION:

Graduate of an accredited practical nursing program required.

Valid Pennsylvania practical nursing license in good standing required.

One year of psychiatric experience in an inpatient or outpatient setting required.

Valid FBI clearance, criminal history check and child abuse history clearance required.

Participation in and completion of all CBH mandatory in-services (must be completed with three (3) months of hire and then annually from the date of the initial training).
